Non Binary recognition project with artist/activist Navoda Bennett. 

This  project  was implemented on recognizing non binary identified bodies in Sri Lanka’s queer community during the non-binary awareness month. 

Navoda Bennett is a multifaceted Sri Lankan artist and activist, known for their contributions to the LGBTQIA+ community, queer art, and culture in Sri Lanka. As a creative individual, they are recognized for using various mediums to explore and express identity, gender, and social justice. Their work often reflects the intersectionality of queer experiences, challenging societal norms and advocating for greater inclusivity and representation in the arts.

She/They  has played a significant role in organizing events and platforms that celebrate and empower marginalized voices, particularly within the Sri Lankan queer community. They are also a vocal advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights, combining their artistic talents with activism to create spaces that foster dialogue, understanding, and solidarity.

Through their initiatives and artistic endeavors, Navoda Bennett has become a prominent figure in both the local and international queer arts scene, pushing the boundaries of traditional art forms while making a lasting impact on queer culture in Sri Lanka.

Some of the glimpses from the project showcases paving a pathway for the accessibility of the wearables towards a discussion on the gendered identity portrayals.

Personalities in this project are known activists , advocates and social workers who have been actively engaging in Sri Lanka’s Queer community.
